About CAM Rider London

Riding in London can be a challenging experience whether on a scooter or a high-powered sports bike. At Camrider London we will not only show you how to pass your test but you will leave us armed with all the skills necessary to negotiate City traffic in a safe, progressive and professional manner.

However much riding you have done in the past, we offer a course to suit you from novice to advanced. In addition to full bike licence courses and post-test training, we are also specialists at putting people through their scooter tests with concise, tailor-made packages. So there is now no excuse not to lose those L-plates.

Instructors

All of our full-time instructors hold the highest level of DSA licence and are not only licensed to instruct for the DSA up to DAS standard but also to train and appoint other instructors on their behalf. Most have been riding in excess of 20 years, spend six hours a day in London traffic and routinely cover 5 times the national average number of miles per annum (and that's just for work!). Needless to say, you will be trained by some of the most experienced instructors in the business.

Our maximum off-road pupil/instructor ratio is 1:4 and our maximum for all on-road training is 1:2 with contact maintained at all times by radio. We can supply bikes and all essential riding gear (except boots), although we would strongly recommend that you buy your own clothing and helmet if you decide to progress beyond CBT.

Congestion Charges and Motorcycles & Scooters

To drive a car into Londons central congestion charge zone in a car or commercial vehicle during a week day costs £8 per day. If you do not pay there are stiff penalties.

Motorcycles and Scooters are exempt from the £8 per day central London congestion charge. There have been several rumors that this is only temporary. Our investigations have shown this to be highly unlikely. The technology used requires a front number plate, as on a car, also scooters do not create congestion. Currently it looks like the existing congestion zone is going to be expanded.

If you enter this zone every week day for a year there is the potential that changing from a car to a scooter will save you £2000 in congestion charges alone. This is £1800 more than our entry level course! When you then compare the cost of insurance, road tax, annual depreciation of the vehicle, servicing costs and parking charges. There really is no comparison between cars and scooters in an urban environment such as London. Scooters are cheaper to run, give you more flexibility, save you time, are more environmentally friendly and parking charges; bikes can park free all day in designated bays throughout London.
