Best in show 2009
Sunday 7th June 2009
Despite one of the wettest days of the year there was a great turnout and huge generosity from bikers and general public keen to support the 2009 Bury St Edmunds Motorcycle Show. This year once again will see over £3000 raised for the East Anglian Air Ambulance.
Dozens of stalls and attractions battled the morning rain and then basked in the afternoon sunshine. There were events for all the family with music, competitions, best bike in show and the Camrider promo staff doing whatever it took to get some vital funds to a service needed by the region.
Try it out section
Camrider ran a free "Try it out" stand where new bikers came to have a free trail lesson to see how they get on with a geared bike or scooter. We provided safety gear and bikes and had a large safe off road area for those that wanted to try biking in a safe fun environment.
This year many bike companies and bike organisations turned up to support the show.
There were Classic bike, custom bike and best in show competitions.
This year kids attractions included face painting, a working fire engine and a range of stalls and fun stuff to keep little ones occupied. For the adults not riding or driving there was a large Greene King bar.
This year saw the launch of Mono-trail, a unique one wheeled trailer for motorcycles. The demonstration trailer was a big draw for bikers keen to see how it worked.
Built from high quality materials the mono trail
looks like a great solution to bikers who need to take a lot of kit with them.
Thanks to...
Camrider want to thank the organisers of the show and all the companies and organisations who attended. In particular Lloyd and Steve Hart. Also thanks to Bowers motorcycles who stepped in to offer co-sponsorship this year and helped make the event along with more presence and support.
The show organisers, sponsors and all involved work many hours without any payment or reward just to make sure funds can be raised for the Air Ambulance and so that local bikers and public can have a great show. We look forward to the next one in 2010
What does the
Air Ambulance do?
Quite Simply - it saves lives. Since its foundation in 2000, the charity has expanded to provide a 365 day a year service covering Cambridgeshire, Norfolk and Suffolk. The air ambulance is vital for quick responses to accidents that may occur in remote or difficult to reach areas. many car drivers and bike riders owe their lives to the swift action of the Air Ambulance and the supporting team.
With the assistance of the NHS Ambulance Trust and the Magpas Emergency medical team, our second Air Ambulance is now covering Bedfordshire and Cambridgeshire. MAGPAS is a charity based in Cambridge, supplying highly trained volunteer doctors to assist the NHS Trust paramedics fly on the second Air Ambulance five days a week. The East Anglian Air Ambulance is currently paying for the NHS Trust paramedics on the second helicopter.
